Description:
OIL-FREE MAGNETIC BEARING TECHNOLOGY IN CHILLERS
3 PDUs (PEs and CEngs) - Approved
The Technical Seminar aims to introduce industry players to the newer water system technologies currently in the market. The key focus would be more on the application of magnetic bearings in this area and its benefits in all-rounded highly efficient system.
Conventional Chillers in the market are often being sized and selected based on their peak load. However, during most of the time, the actual operation hovers around 40% to 60% capacity. This is due to influence of fluctuating weather conditions, varying human traffic and time period of the year. As such, this results in conventional chillers performing poorly at these partial loads.
For magnetic bearing chillers, it’s key potential is its performance at these actual operating conditions. By using contactless technology and multiple compressors, magnetic bearing chillers can perform very efficiently at extremely low partial loads. This will be demonstrated during the site tour to Orchard Hotel’s chiller plant room which consists of 4 x 470RT Magnetic Bearing Chillers. These chillers house 3 magnetic bearing compressors per chiller which optimises part load efficiency allowing it to run as efficiently as 0.43 kw/rt at low load.
As such, this technical seminar would prove to be an informative session to all member of the industry.
