Tsinghua University in China has launched the Institute for Embodied Intelligence and Robotics to advance robotics research.
The institute aims to strengthen both robotics research and talent development in China.
The new institute brings together faculty from automation, mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, and computer science departments.
It will be led by Zhang Tao, director of Tsinghua’s Department of Automation.
Embodied intelligence focuses on AI that interacts with the physical world and learns from real-world experiences.
This move follows similar initiatives at other Chinese universities, including Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Zhejiang University, which recently applied to add embodied intelligence as a new undergraduate course. [Source: South China Morning Post]
