Amogy and A*STAR Partner to Advance Ammonia-to-Power Solutions in Singapore

Share

Amogy, a leader in ammonia-to-power solutions, and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore’s lead public sector R&D agency, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to accelerate the development of ammonia-based technologies. This partnership directly supports Singapore’s National Hydrogen Strategy and the Singapore Green Plan 2030.

The collaboration will focus on piloting Amogy’s proprietary ammonia-to-power systems on Jurong Island. A*STAR will contribute its expertise in safety standards, techno-economic analysis, and new technology development to scale these systems effectively.

Key initiatives include:

  • A demonstration of ammonia-to-power systems on Jurong Island.
  • Joint R&D on advanced ammonia-cracking catalysts.
  • Developing digital tools and workforce training programs for scale-up.

A primary goal is to validate the technology for decarbonising hard-to-abate sectors, with an initial focus on Singapore’s rapidly growing and energy-intensive data centre industry.

“We are excited to partner with A*STAR to demonstrate the potential of ammonia-powered technology in Singapore,” said Mr Seonghoon Woo, CEO of Amogy. “This collaboration marks an important step toward advancing decarbonization in critical sectors such as data centers and heavy industry.”

Prof Lim Keng Hui of A*STAR added, “By advancing technologies for low- or zero-carbon ammonia for power generation, we can help pave the way to decarbonise hard-to-abate industries and contribute to Singapore’s economic and sustainability goals.” [Source: Amogy]
