Acceptance of NTU’S  BEng  (Environmental Engineering) Degree For Accreditation as Resident Engineers – June 2014

>
BRIDGING COURSE FOR NTU ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING GRADUATES We are pleased to update that graduates with Bachelor of Engineering degree in Environmental Engineering from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) can now be accepted for accreditation as Resident Engineers (REs) provided the graduate attend and pass 3 bridging modules conducted at The Institution of Engineers (IES) Academy. The role of a RE is to assist the Qualified Person in the supervision of structural works to ensure that the buildings/structures are constructed in accordance with approved plans.  It is thus critically important that RE has the knowledge and experience in structural engineering concepts to carry out his duties effectively to meet the stringent safety standards as required in the legislation. In order to provide the flexibility for these graduates to join the built environment sector and be accredited as REs, they can now attend and pass the tests on 3 bridging courses, namely Structural Design IICivil Engineering Construction Technology and Geotechnical Engineering. The duration of each course module is 26 hours, i.e. a total of 78 hours for the 3 courses. The bridging course is targeted to start this year (either August or last quarter) and will be scheduled about 2-3 evenings a week over a 3 months period.
