Smart Automated Aircraft Visual Inspection System (SAAVIS)
By Institute for Infocomm Research
Project Description
SAAVIS is an automated aircraft inspection system that utilises overhead high- resolution cameras (with AI-based computer vision capability) and autonomous ground robots (with 3D localisation capabilities) to detect various defects on the airframe with the aim to improve efficiency and safety of personnels involved.
Current available system usually identifies 5-7 known types of defects, with our Hybrid -AI system that combines traditional machine-learning with deep-learning methods, SAAVIS can identify more than 30 commonly known types of defects, such as lighting strikes, dents, scratches, and loose screws, with minimal training data.
The enhanced autonomous mobile robot uses 3D dome-lidar technology to localise and autonomously navigate itself with respect to the aircraft during the inspection, enabling the system to capture areas that are hard to reach by the overhead cameras alone e.g.: underbelly of the aircraft, leading edge of the wings etc.
Crimson S8 – Singapore’s 1st Personal Aerial Vehicle (PAV)
By NEO Aeronautics
Project Description
The Crimson S8 PAV is the 1st “flying car” fully designed and developed in Singapore. It is FAA Part 103 compliant that does not place constraints on the age, experience or knowledge of the flyers in US. This is a fully eVTOL quad-copter that is deliveers the values of safety, reliability and affordability and thus enablig “Every ONE can FLY”.
