About Synopsis

In this webinar, general design objectives and parameters for bridges, and different types of superstructures will be discussed.

Speaker will present different methods for building bridge decks, such as Span-by-Span (cast in situ and segmental precast), Balanced Cantilever Construction (cast in situ and segmental precast), and Fully Precast Bridge Girders & Deck.

Construction methodology and permanent works design interrelate to form the design of a permanent job. Range of applications, equipment used to erect the bridge deck, working kinematics of post tensioning, as well as design considerations for each methodology will also be discussed.

This webinar will include state-of-the-art tensioning technology for improved durability. With bridge design lifespans increasing and owners considering whole-life-cycle costs, durability of post tensioning systems has become a key factor in bridge construction.

About Speaker

During his 14 years with VSL, he acquired extensive experience in construction of major bridges and design of bridge erection equipment. He joined the Systems and R&D department of VSL in 2007.

After a year, he moved to Mexico where he spent 3 years as Technical Manager for the construction of the Baluarte Bridge, a stay cable bridge featuring the longest span in Latin America and at the time of completion the highest stay cable bridge in the world. He then moved back to VSL’s Technical Centre Switzerland in  2011 where he oversees the design team.
