In this presentation, the speaker will give an overview of switching devices in UPS Installation, understanding in UPS behaviour during an overload condition and how it impacts protective device selection. He will also share the process of the downstream short-circuit when feeding a fault with inverter or bypass. In Additional, the presentation will showcase the impact of UPS internal (or external) fuses to selectivity and basic concepts of I2t values, as well as the principles on how to evaluate and achieve selectivity between UPS static bypass and downstream protection. The presentation will also covers the UPS Safety Standard.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Based in Espo, Finland, Mr Janne Paananen holds a bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering and graduated from EVTEK University of Applied Sciences. He is currently a Technology Manager in the Critical Power Solutions organization for EARON EMEA.
Janne has been specializing in large UPS system solutions for datacentres and other mission critical applications. He has over 20 years of experience with large three phase UPS products in different technical roles within Eaton’s after sales, pre-sales and product management organizations in EMEA.
During this time, he has provided support and training for several service organizations in 400V market area including on-site support. Following his role, Janne performed as a Senior Application Engineer and Technology Manager for 3-phase UPS business providing tailored UPS solutions, pre-sales support and in-depth product trainings for Eaton’s personnel, consultants and customers.
Before joining Eaton, Janne had 7 years of intensive experience on a test floor for large medium voltage synchronous motors and generators performing type and routine tests and special measurements for the electrical machines. In his role, Janne had also carried out regular on-site after sales support worldwide, consisting of troubleshooting and repair of electrical machines and associated excitation controls systems including occasional commissioning support.
Janne is a guest lecturer for educational institutes (in Finland) and participates in the international standardization work around data centers.
