In Memoriam:
Er. Au Kow Liong
Er. Au Kow Liong, Sr. MIES, who is a Council Member of IES for the current 2021-2023 session, passed away peacefully on 17 April 2023. He was 70.
Er. Au was Deputy Chair of the Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Technical Committee, and served in the IES Council since 2021. He was also a SCDF Registered Inspector who conducted fire safety inspections in buildings for issuance of the Fire Safety Certificate.
A member of the Professional Engineers Board who served his second term in 2021, his expertise in the Fire Safety field was particularly in the industry of Petrochemical plants, Pharmaceuticals, and Power Generation Plants.
Er. Au also sponsored and contributed to many IES events such as the IES Annual Dinner and IES Annual General Meetings. Apart from these initiatives, he was actively involved in the various committees in which he held leadership positions.
These include the SCDF Fire Code Review Committee, FSE Selection Panel Interview, NEA/PUB quarterly Dialogue Session, and iNPQS Platform.
His contributions to the engineering community will forever be remembered, and his loss is keenly felt.
The President, Council, and Secretariat are deeply saddened by this news and express their sincere condolences to his family.

Seminar on Building Facade Inspection 2023

Happening on the 27th June 2023, the Building Facade Inspection Seminar requires speakers with skills in Periodic Facade Inspection, Standards Development, Drone Services, Application of AI in Facade Inspection, and Training and Certification, among others.
Organised by The Singapore Engineer magazine, and supported by BuildSG, speakers will need to submit details of their presentation to the Seminar Secretariat before the deadline.

Volunteers Required! WeCare @ North West – Service Weeks aim to bring our community and corporate partners together, and provide festive cheers to the needy residents residing in public rental units in the North West District through the distribution of WeCare Festive Packs.
This call for volunteers will need a minimum of 2-3 volunteers to assist with distribution, collection and delivery of items, setting up of a "Pop-Up" Market, registration and crowd management, and act as Personal Shoppers to assist the beneficiaries in choosing their items.
