Message from Mr Dalson Chung, 29th IES President

Mr Dalson Chung, Director, Industry Development and Promotion Division, National Environment Agency, officially began his duties as the 29th IES President at the IES 56th AGM on 28 May 2022.

Recruitment for Biomedical Engineering Technical Committee (BETC) Members
 

A part of the IES Manufacturing Cluster, the BETC aims to promote and develop the field in close relation to the healthcare and medtech industry. This is accomplished through the provision of expertise and suggestions in the development of relevant practices and technologies, as well as engagement with the government, private sector, and academia to build a network of key stakeholders.

The committee is now looking for dynamic individuals who would like to participate in its activities to support, develop, and advance this field. Interested individuals may write in to Ms Amelia Yeo at amelia.yeo@iesnet.org.sg for further details. 

 

IES Directory 2022 Now Available for Collection 
 

The 2022 edition of the IES Directory is now available for collection at the IES Main Building (70 Bukit Tinggi Road) and IES Academy (Devan Nair Institute of Employment and Employability, 80 Jurong East St 21, #04-10).

Members are entitled to one copy. Collection hours are from Mondays to Fridays, 9.30am - 12.30pm and 2.00pm - 5.30pm, excluding public holidays. Kindly present your Membership Card and ID number at the point of collection.

The e-copy can be accessed online by logging in to the Members' Portal.

SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) Job Skills Insights Survey for the
Built Environment Sector


As part of the larger aim to anticipate the changing skills demand of the Built Environment (BE) sector, SSG is working with BCA, Trade Associations and Chambers, and unions to understand the changing job content of BE jobs as a result of automation, digitalisation, and business / service model changes, and monitor how this is impacting skills demand via labour market insights. They have released a few surveys, and would like to seek your views on them.

MOM Survey on Impact of Staggered Rest Days


MOM would like to seek your company’s views on the reduction of the current staggered rest day arrangement from all seven days of the week to a permanent two-day staggered rest day arrangement (i.e. Saturday and Sunday). Your input would help to inform policy changes and transit rest day arrangements in a sustainable manner.

Understanding and Navigating the Public Sector Standard Conditions of Contract (8th Edition): 29 Jul 2022 (Fri), 2.00pm - 6.00pm
 
In this webinar, speaker Mr Christopher Chuah will explain with reference to
caselaw and case studies on how the different provisions in the PSSCOC relating to
time, cost and quality are interpreted and applied. The speaker will also highlight
various pitfalls to watch out for when using the PSSCOC and how these provisions
dovetail with the amended Security of Payment Act.

Inaugurual Prof Chen Charng Ning Distinguished Lecture:
20 Aug 2022 (Sat), 10.00am - 12.30pm


Prof Chen Charng Ning, who passed away on 30 November 2019, was the founding Dean of the School of Civil & Structural Engineering (now the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering) and the former Deputy President of NTU. In addition, he served as chairman of BCA from 1999 to 2001 and Santarli Construction from 2001 to 2019.

The Professor Chen Charng Ning Distinguished Lecture is established in recognition of his outstanding contributions to higher education in Singapore and the construction industry

LTA-UITP Singapore International Transport Congress and Exhibition (SITCE) - Call for Papers

Presentations at SITCE 2022 (2 - 4 Nov) will be delivered to an audience of transport professionals and policy officials. The SITCE 2022 Programme Committee encourages the submission of papers which review developments over recent years and present consolidated experience. Theoretical discussions not accompanied by practical examples will therefore be avoided, and the focus will be on assessing policies and actions of practical value for transport decision makers.
