WES 2021 - Engineering Towards a Post-pandemic Sustainable World: Call for Papers

A focal point for ideas, research findings, and best practices, WES 2021 will address critical issues related to engineering and sustainability in a pandemic and post-pandemic world. Members are invited to submit papers in the following areas:

Sustainable Living Through Technology; Future Engineering and Industry 4.0; AI and Digitalisation; Sustainable Urban Mobility; Engineering Education; Impact of New Technologies on Productisation; Safety and Human Factors Practice.

Kindly submit a 300-word abstract via the EasyChair portal (Instruction guide HERE).

FEIAP Guidebook on Infrastructure Sustainability

The Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP) Standing Committee for Environmental Engineering, has developed a Guidebook on Infrastructure Sustainability. It was developed through rigorous research and reviews of global trends, benchmarked against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

The guidebook serves as a starting point for those looking to get a better understanding of sustainable and resilient infrastructure. It is a free reference resource, and can be downloaded from the FEIAP Environmental Engineering website at http://www.feiap.org/environmental-engineering/.

 

PUB BIM e-Checker Training:
29 Oct (Fri), 9.30am - 12.30pm

PUB is planning to conduct BIM e-Checker training for IES members at the above date and time via teleconference. The training will include the following:

1. Overview of IFC
2. Introduction to PUB BIM e-Checker portal
3. Hands-on modelling (Revit) to input information and exporting to IFC (One sample rule from COPSSW, COPSWD, SS636 each)
4. Reviewing of result on PUB BIM e-Checker portal


Note:
- Participants to have license and software installed, preferably multi-monitor to facilitate hands-on
- Materials will be shared to confirmed attendees (including slides and Revit models)

CORENET X Announcement and Introductory Webinars

CORENET X was announced by Minister for National Development Desmond Lee at the IBEW Opening Ceremony on 7 September. It is a digital shopfront that will advance the regulatory landscape of the built environment, transforming the way we plan, design and build.

BCA will be running several webinars to introduce it to the industry and ensure widespread outreach. Members are not restricted to attend the session that is co-led by IES and ACES, and are welcome to attend any of them.

Final Call for Papers for CAFEO 39

The Institution of Surveyors, Engineers, and Architects (PUJA) Brunei, the host for CAFEO 39 this year, invites IES members to submit their papers for presentation. This year's theme is ‘Engineering and Climate Change’.

LTA-ESG Xcite Innovation Call
This innovation call is supported by IES-INCA.

As part of their joint initiative on co-innovation with the industry, LTA and ESG have launched a call for innovation called the Accelerating Co-Innovation for Transformation & Export (“Xcite”) initiative. Through it, the agencies aim to work with the industry to develop innovative solutions that leverage technologies such as AI, image analysis, and automation to help enhance productivity and efficiency in transport operations and maintenance. 

Participants will gain the opportunity to develop technologies, test-bed solutions, access funding support and help make a difference in Singapore’s land transport sector.
