Proclamation of World Engineering Day
 

After a unanimous vote in Commission, the UNESCO Executive Board adopted a draft decision on 17 April in plenary session, recommending that the General Conference in November 2019 “decide to proclaim 4 March of every year World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development". This is a crucial step in the approval process for a historic decision for engineering.

IES 53rd Annual General Meeting
 
Notice is hereby given that the 53rd Annual General Meeting of The Institution of Engineers, Singapore will be held at 1.00 pm sharp on Saturday, 25 May 2019, at Ballroom II and III, Level 1, Raffles Town Club, 1 Plymouth Avenue, Singapore 297753 (Raffles Town Club is near the Downtown Line Stevens MRT Station).

World Engineers Summit 2019: Call for Papers
 
In August 2019, IES will once again host the World Engineers Summit (WES). The theme for this year is "Engineering Future Cities - Harnessing and Managing Technologies to Improve Quality of Life', and the summit Technical Committee warmly welcomes all members to submit technical papers for presentation.

LTA Industry Briefing on Design Control and Accredited Checking Services:
6 May 2019 (Mon), 4.30pm, LTA Auditorium (Blk 5, 1 Hampshire Road)

LTA will be procuring independent Design Control and Accredited Checking (DCAC) consultancy services on the civil engineering designs developed in the Design and Build Contracts. These services will involve design reviews and checks during the design development stage with full independent calculation, as well as accredited checking services to fulfil the statutory requirements stipulated under the Building Control Act.
 
To explain the scope and requirements of DCAC services, LTA is organising an industry briefing session for Civil Engineering consultants.  To RSVP, please email Ms Elizabeth George at
elizabeth_george@lta.gov.sg by 30 April 2019. A maximum of 2 representatives are allowed to attend this briefing.

6th International Conference on Applications of Structural Fire Engineering: 13 - 14 Jun 2019, NTU

This conference will focus on the application of design methods for structures to resist fire. Particularly relevant themes will be fire modelling, simulation of the heat transfer between fire and structures, and modelling of structural behaviour at elevated temperatures.
