1966 - 1970: | IES was founded on 1 July 1966. |

1971 - 1980: | IES successfully pressed for the introduction of the Professional Engineers Bill, which became law on 2 January 1971.

1981 - 1990: | IES purchased premise at Bukit Tinggi Road to construct the IES Building in August 1983.

| IES commenced Building Project for Bukit Tinggi premise on 15 November 1985. |

| IES completed Building Project at Bukit Tinggi premise on 6 February 1987. |

| The IES Building was officially declared open by Mr S Dhanabalan, then-Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for National Development, on 15 October 1987. |

| IES established the Continuing Education Centre (CEC) for the professional development of its members and the public in 1990. |

1991 - 2000: | IES, together with members of the building industry (ACES, REDAS, SCAL, SIA, SIBL, SISV, and SPM), formed the Construction Industry Joint Committee (CIJC) in 1997.

| IES initiated “Engineers’ Week” to recognize the contributions made by engineers in March 1998. |

| IES presented the “IES Prestigious Engineering Achievement Awards” to five recipients in 1999. |

2001 - 2010: | IES chaired the CIJC from 2001 – 2002. |

| IES set up the Engineering Accreditation Board (EAB) in May 2002 as a body to accredit engineering programmes which are delivered and awarded in Singapore. |

| IES gained entry into the Washington Accord as a provisional member in June 2003. |

| IES joined the World Federation of Engineering Organisations (WFEO) and Federation of Engineering Institutions of South East Asia and the Pacific (FEISEAP) as member in 2004. |

| IES spearheaded a year-long campaign titled “Engineering Year 2005/2006” campaign to promote engineering as the choice of career for tertiary students in June 2005. |

| IES set up IES Academy (IESA) to take over the expanding role of CEC on 1 April 2006. |

| IES gained full signatory status in the Washington Accord in June 2006. |

| IES was recognized as a “Friend of Water” by PUB Singapore in September 2006. |

| IES signed MOU with NTUC and launched the IES-NTUC Associate Membership Programme on 6 July 2007. |

| IES held the inaugural “IES Distinguished Lecture” on 3 August 2007. |

| IES signed an MOU with SIM University (UniSIM) and launched the UniSIM-IES Executive Graduate Diploma in Technology Entrepreneurship (TEN) and an Executive Master of Technology Entrepreneurship degree programmes on 3 August 2007. |

| IES launched a special publication titled “Who’s Who in Engineering, Singapore” during its 41st Annual Dinner & Dance on 26 October 2007. |

| IES signed an MOU with Defence Science & Technology Agency (DSTA) and launched the Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) certification programme on 19 March 2008. |
