On the 12th of Dec 2012 at 12:12pm, The Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES) held the official ground breaking ceremony
for a new annex at its Bukit Tinggi premises, with Deputy Prime Minister (DPM)
Teo Chee Hean, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home
Affairs, as the Guest-of-Honour of the event.
IES is extending land use and expanding its premises to cater to membership growth
and to better support engineers in contributing to Singapore’s economical and societal
Scheduled for completion during the first quarter of 2014, the new annex will stand
adjacent to the existing IES at the car park space. Its lower level will house the IES
Secretariat and the upper level,
a members’ area, training rooms and an open terrace.
As the national body of engineering professionals, IES endeavours to make this building
a state-of-the-art structure embodying the latest sustainable design and construction
technology; as well as a home built by engineers, for engineers, by amassing the
engineering community to participate in the project, either through donations or
provision of expertise, products or services on a pro bono basis.
